Routes

The 100 km course takes you from Devizes across The Vale of Pewsey, the Vale is an extent of lower lying ground separating the chalk downs of Salisbury Plain to the south of the Marlborough Downs. You pass the villages of Horton, All Cannings and Alton Barnes. Here you turn left climbing up past the Alton Barnes White Horse, then descend steadily to Lockeridge and Clatford where you take on the second climb of the day to the top of Oare Hill. From here you then descend downhill into Pewsey and back on to the Vale.  You then head West through Woodborough, Chirton, Urchfont, Market Lavington, West Lavington and Erlestoke towards Westbury and the Westbury White Horse climb.The less experienced of you or those with weary legs can opt out by turning right just before the climb. At the top of the climb you then descend in to Westbury. Now finish bound you pass through the villages of Steeple Ashton, Keeval, Bulkington, Seend and Rowde. Once through Rowde you take on the short sharp ascent of Dunkirk Hill and then the through the Town of Devizes to the finish.

 

 

 

 

The 50 Km course leads out of Devizes on the same roads as the 100 Km route across the Vale of  Pewsey until you reach the village of Alton Barnes. Here you continue straight on over the first of two easier climbs that you will ride on this route and through the village of Alton Priors then on too West Stowell, Oare and Pewsey. In Oare you link up once more with the 100 Km riders to the feed station at Pewsey. You stay with the longer route riders for a further ….Km. through Mannington Bruce,  Bottlesford and Patney. Here you once again leave the longer route turning right towards All Cannings before turning left to Etchilhampton and the final climb of the day before you descend down towards

Devizes.
